The Rail Motor was a self-propelled vehicle powered by a petrol engine and was designed to run independently. WebRail Motor No.3 was the first of a class of 37 (numbered 1 to 37) that provided reliable service to NSW Railways for over sixty years. The 42-Foot Rail Motors, or CPH Class as they later became known, were powered by a 6-cylinder petrol engine with a 4-speed manual gearbox.
