WebDr. Emily Blackwell (1826-1910) was among the first women in the United States to earn an M.D. Blackwell helped established a women’s hospital in New York, later adding a women’s medical college to the experiment. Blackwell met Dr. Elizabeth Cushier (1837-1931) when Cushier became a student at Blackwell’s college.
